Our Leaders

What does leadership look like? All of us.
Our members elect delegates–who vote for ISEA's top officers, debate issues, and set ISEA policy. Here are your leaders, making your voice heard.
ISEA members nationwide set association policy, most notably through an annual Delegate Assembly (DA). Between annual meetings, the board of directors and the executive committee are ISEA's top decision-making bodies.

Our President

Mike Beranek, our president, is a third grade teacher on release from Western Hills Elementary School in West Des Moines.

Our Vice President

Josh Brown, a middle school teacher from Des Moines public schools, was elected vice president of the Iowa State Education Association in April 2018 and reelected in March 2021.

Our Council Chairs

Iowa educators elected by Iowa educators represent the 20 geographical councils and the two statewide councils.
