Our Treasurer

Maggie Rietz, a high school language arts and speech teacher at West High School in Davenport, was elected treasurer of the Iowa State Education Association in
April 2024. 

She has been teaching since 2005 and joined ISEA in 2009 upon returning to Davenport after teaching in California. Maggie has served in state and local association roles. She is currently the Davenport Education Association (DEA) vice president and has served as an ISEA Executive Board member, DEA committee chair, and
head building representative.Maggie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education from St. Ambrose University and her Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning from Point Loma Nazarene University. Outside of association work and classroom teaching, Maggie is a speech and debate coach and serves as a district chair for the National Speech & Debate Association.

She is married to Arron, a high school language arts teacher and ISEA member, and they have two sons, AJ and Emerson. Maggie enjoys traveling and spending time
