Scarborough's Reading Rope: Unraveling Language Comprehension Strands

This 1-credit, 4-week course is entirely self-paced and can be taken anytime between October 3, 2024 - August 20, 2025.

At a Glance

Do you want to dive deeply into the Science of Reading? In this course, participants will explore the components essential for developing proficient language comprehension skills The course will focus on background knowledge, vocabulary, language structures, verbal reasoning, and literacy knowledge, each playing a crucial role in fostering comprehension. The participants will leave this course ready to implement the Science of Reading in more depth. They will walk away having specific strategies to teach each of these components of the Language Comprehension strands as Hollis Scarborough describes as she articulates how students become proficient readers.
