Giving Better & Faster Feedback in the Classroom – Self-Paced, 4-Week class (Fall Semester)

This 2 credit, 4 week course is entirely self-paced. Participants who sign up will be granted access the next Sunday at 8 a.m. and will finish the course on a Sunday by 11:59 p.m. after the four weeks has concluded. All assignments, discussions, and final project work are due at end of the 4 week course in order to receive credit for the course. The participant should expect to receive a transcript 2-4 weeks after the course is completed depending on whether it is for Licensure Renewal or Graduate Credit.

The purpose of this course is to introduce teachers to using technology to conduct formative assessments in the classroom. Teachers will learn about effective formative assessment practices, create their own formative assessments aligned to their content, and finally, create lesson plans that include formative assessments using tech tools. Teachers will gain experience on a variety of technology tools to support the creation of formative assessments, participate in active discussions about the instructional purpose and goals of formative assessment, and learn how to make instructional decisions from the data collected. A variety of formative assessment tools will be demonstrated and discussed with time given for participants to create lesson plans to be used in their classrooms.
