Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we as educators must be prepared to provide virtual instruction to our students. This can be a real positive for classrooms, even if they never do move to virtual instruction, as technology can be used to differentiate, increase engagement, and support student accountability. We only become more prepared through ongoing professional learning and practice. In this course, you will learn best practices for setting up virtual instruction and online student engagement in the elementary classroom, as well as explore the virtual curriculum resources, digital tools, and platforms for virtual lessons. By the end of this course, you will have explored Teams, Nearpod, Seesaw, Wakelets, IntoMath, Journeys, and Pearson Realize. You will also learn how to use your document camera for virtual instruction and create a quality video lesson. Through articles, discussions, videos, and relevant application assignments, you will increase your preparedness for virtual instruction. This course also includes videos showing the SCCSD virtual teachers conducting lessons and discussing their learnings from providing virtual instruction.

This class is available for License Renewal.
