Tom McLaughlin

Tom McLaughlin, a 27-year educator was elected in April 2016 to a third term on the ISEA Executive Board representing Southwest UniServ Unit.  He was reelected as the ISEA Treasurer in May.  As Treasurer, he serves as the chair of ISEA’s Budget Committee and leads financial literacy forums for the ISEA Executive Board at each of their regular board meetings.

Tom was one of the ISEA Fine Arts Caucus founders, and has served as a NEA Liaison to the National Coalition of Core Arts Standards, a NEA liaison with Americans for the Arts and as a member of the NEA Task Force for Arts Education and the Governor’s/ISDOE’s Task Force on Arts and the Common Core.  Tom served as National Chair of NEA’s Arts Education/Fine Arts Caucus.  Prior to that, he served on the NEA Fine Arts Caucus Executive Board, served two terms as the Southwest UniServ Unit president, and was a two-term UniServ District 114 president in Kansas and is a past chair of KNEA’s Council of UniServ Presidents. Tom also served multiple terms as local president in both his Kansas and Iowa locals, as a chief negotiator, contract maintenance/grievance chair, and in numerous other committee roles at the national, state, and local levels.
